The Global Working Group on Faith, SSDDIM, and HIV is convened by the Christian AID Goodwill Ambassador on HIV & AIDS, the Reverend Canon Dr. Gideon B. Byamugisha. Canon Byamugisha is the director of the Friends of Canon Gideon Foundation (FOCAGIFO), the organization that serves as the GWG’s Secretariat. Along with FOCAGIFO, eight other members oversee the affairs of the Global Working Group as an umbrella organization. The Steering Committee convened by Canon Byamugisha meets in person on an annual basis in varying host countries. The Steering Committee communicates regularly outside of face-to-face meetings to review the GWG program, share experiences, and plan activities for the movement.
At the state level, various National Working Groups support and coordinate the mobilization, training, encouraging, monitoring and evaluating of the “Ambassadors of Life, Peace, and Health” integral to the GWG’s work on the ground. They also plan and coordinate the SSDDIM reduction and SAVE multiplication action and advocacy activities within their respective countries, inspire local community and national level partnerships, and encourage people to attend the Global Race to SAVE Lives for HIV&AIDS Conferences.
Beyond this, the GWG is sustained by its numerous partner organizations in 17 countries worldwide and their individual leaders, congregations, and communities.
